Advancing mental health with neurotechnology

Explore Our Research

Our Mission

The SENDI Lab (Systems, Electrophysiology, and Neurogenetics Data Integration Lab) is a multidisciplinary research group at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School dedicated to advancing computational neuroscience and precision psychiatry. Our mission is to understand the neural and behavioral mechanisms underlying individual differences in mental health, vulnerability to psychiatric disorders, and responses to treatment.

We integrate multimodal data—including functional and structural neuroimaging, electroencephalography (EEG), wearable and sleep technologies, behavioral measures, and clinical assessments—with advanced computational methods and artificial intelligence to investigate brain function across health and psychiatric conditions. Our research focuses on identifying how brain networks and behavioral processes vary across individuals, evolve over time, and relate to clinical symptoms, treatment outcomes, and recovery.

A central focus of our work is developing interpretable, robust, and generalizable computational models that move beyond traditional group-level analyses to characterize individual differences, identify clinically meaningful biomarkers, and predict treatment outcomes. By combining multimodal data with machine learning and advanced statistical approaches, we aim to uncover biological signatures associated with psychiatric conditions and their underlying mechanisms.

Our long-term goal is to translate advances in neuroscience and artificial intelligence into clinically actionable tools that support early risk identification, individualized treatment selection, and ongoing monitoring of treatment response. Through interdisciplinary collaboration across neuroscience, psychiatry, engineering, and data science, the SENDI Lab seeks to bridge the gap between fundamental brain research, computational innovation, and real-world clinical applications.
